Deepika Padukone chooses Karan Johar over SLB?

With Deepika Padukone being cast in Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’, she seems to have made her choice over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

There was talk that Paudkone was set to star opposite her alleged boyfriend, Ranveer Singh in Bhansali’s love story. However, looking at the shooting dates for both films – it will not be possible for the actress to star in both films simultaneously.

A source told Mid-Day, “The dates Bhansali wanted from Deepika have been allotted to Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’. This is why the actress is not in a position to play Mastani in the former’s film.”

After ‘Ram-Leela’, Bhansali was keen to direct the actress again in ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The report also adds that Padukone had done a look test for the film but she has been unable to sign the film due to limited dates.

Whilst, Kareena Kapoor Khan is looking like the firm favourite to bag the lead role of Mastani, Bhansali’s office said that no actress had been finalised as yet.

Let’s just hope the project takes off sometime soon. It was back in 2002, Bhansali had announced plans to work with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ but the film failed after the then couple broke up.
