Date confirmed for Panjab Radio’s 558AM Greater London launch

The UK’s longest running Punjabi-language radio station, Panjab Radio, has confirmed to BizAsiaLive.com that it will be launching a London-wide service on 558AM in August.

Panjab Radio will commence broadcasting at midday on Thursday 1st August, extending it’s reach to the entire Greater London region on the analogue platform.

Panjab Radio currently broadcasts on national DAB, digital television, online and on 1584AM in North London, as well as being available on Alexa, TuneIn and the Panjab Radio mobile app. The new frequency will put it directly head-to-head with London Asian commercial rivals, Sunrise Radio, Lyca Radio and Lyca Dilse.

Surjit Singh Ghuman MBE, Managing Director of Panjab Radio said, “It gives me great pleasure to confirm that we will begin broadcasting throughout Greater London on our new frequency on 1st August 2019 at midday. This is a new chapter in the success of Panjab Radio, which is down to our listeners and well-wishers, who have supported Panjab Radio every step of the way.”

This is a new chapter in the life of Panjab Radio and I would like to thank both our listeners and customers who have supported Panjab Radio every step of the way and of course my hardworking committed team.

As revealed earlier, Panjab Radio will swap with Love Sport, which currently broadcasts on 558AM. The latter will move to 1584AM on the same day. Panjab Radio’s application for the frequency won huge support in an Ofcom consultation, which ran earlier in the year.

Since its inception in 2000, Panjab Radio has jumped leaps and bounds to become of the most successful Asian radio brands in the UK.
