Haradhan Bandopadhyay who played a character role in 'Barfi!' has passed away

His performance as head of the asylum in ‘Barfi!’ (2012) is what he will be remembered for. The actor who played the character of Daju, Haradhan Bandopadhyay, has passed away in Kolkata after being hospitalised for 15 days.

Bandopadhyay, 87, breathed his last on 5th January having been in hospital with pneumonia. He was a Bengali TV and film actor who also played a part in ‘Parineeta’ (2005).

Priyanka Chopra who acted with Bandopadhyay in ‘Barfi!’ tweeted, “Woke up to the saddest news. The wonderful actor who played Jhilmil’s Daju in Barfi Mr Haradhan Banerjee passed away.. RIP sir.. You blessed us.”

Anurag Basu also expressed his condolences on the micro-blogging site, “For rest of our lives we will cherish golden moments spent with Haradhanda! At 87 He was younger than me at heart.”
