‘Dabangg 3’ team releases statement over backlash over Shivling

Salman Khan kicked off shooting for ‘Dabangg 3’ this week, but this didn’t come without its fair share of controversy.

Reported on Mid-day, photos emerged of the Maheshwar Shivling located in Madhya Pradesh, covered in wooden planks, which caused outrage on social media. The ‘Dabangg 3’ team were shooting for the title track ‘Hud Hud Dabangg’, and before they could officially announce the song, the video was already leaked, not leaving enough time for the makers to explain.

Line producer Harsh Dave released a statement on Friday saying, “We had constructed the perimeter for the Shivlinga and had positioned two people on the side to guard it and avoid people from walking on it. We had no intention of hurting anyone’s religious sentiments. We have relocated the set (sic).”

However, this became a heated debate between the ruling BJP party and Congress.

Khan confirmed later with a picture from the sets that they have completed shooting for the track. Directed by Prabhudheva and produced by Arbaaz Khan, the film will also see Sonakshi Sinha return to play ‘Rajjo’.
