Cull of shows begin for new look Sony TV

Sony Entertainment Television Asia will be unveiling a new look and positioning at the end of this month. To coincide with that, the fate of many shows is being decided.

According to TellyChakkar, the first two shows facing the chop will be are ‘Hum Ladkiyan’ and ‘Ek Safar Aisa _Kabhi Socha Na Tha’.

Whilst show producers have rejected the claims, insiders have confirmed to TellyChakkar that both will be axed to make way for new productions in time for the new look Sony TV.

An actor from ‘Hum Ladkiyan’ told TellyChakkar that the show was indeed going off air. “Yes, it is true that Hum Ladkiyan is going off air. I۪m surprised by this decision as our show wasn۪t doing that bad. We۪re told that the show will wind up on 15 May,” said the actor.

Last month, it was confirmed that ‘Aathvaan Vachan’ will be removed from the programme line-up.

Sony TV has been struggling in the all-important TRP game in India. It has fallen behind the likes of STAR Plus, Colors and ZEE TV. It is also facing stiff competition from NDTV Imagine’s new shows.

Sony TV will be launching its new programme line-up on Monday 25th May.
