It’s one of the greatest told love stories of all time, reflecting on all the elements that make one. So when news of a remake for ‘Laila Majnu’ was announced, audiences were overcome by excitement, especially when Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali were reported to be teaming up for it. However, things don’t seem to be as plain sailing as they hoped, where both filmmakers have hit a roadblock, due to different ideas.
According to Mid-Day, Kapoor and Ali can’t decide on how to best promote the film. Where one wants a full on marketing strategy, the other feels low-key promotion is best. “Ekta and Imtiaz have been meeting frequently to brainstorm about the best possible way to promote the love saga. Their sensibilities are as different as chalk and cheese. Ekta feels they should opt for a marketing blitzkrieg while Imtiaz wants low-key promotions,” a source was reported revealing.
It went on to add, “Since it’s a modern-day retelling of Laila and Majnu, Imtiaz feels the love saga should grow on people instead of being promoted heavily. But, Ekta is keen on going all out with the publicity, especially since the movie has newcomers in the lead.”
To be directed by Sajid Ali,the film is set to have a 2019 release on 4th May. Here’s hoping these two creative minds can soon come to an agreed decision that works for all.
