Court grants Aditya Pancholi interim protection from arrest
A Mumbai court has extended Aditya Pancholi’s interim protection from arrest, until 9th September, following an FIR that had been issued against him on 28th June due to a rape allegation by an actress dating back to the period of 2004-2006.
The decision, issued by judge H.B. Gaikwad, factored in the fact that the alleged victim wished to amend her application that opposed Pancholi’s bail, since it had been mistakenly filed in the name of her sister.
For the uninitiated, the prosecutors are looking to charge Pancholi under Indian Penal Code sections: 376, for rape; 328, for causing hurt by means of poison; 384, for extorting; 342, for wrongful confinement; 323, for voluntarily causing hurt; and 506, for criminal intimidation.
