A complaint has been filed against star and producer, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, of a brand new and very popular show ‘Sacred Games’ on Netflix. The complaint has been filed by local Congress leader Rajiv Kumar Sinha for allegedly insulting former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
“We have received a complaint and we are looking into it,” said a police official, reports DNA India. As per police sources, the complaint was received at Girish Park police station on Tuesday. It was filed by Sinha who is a member of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee. Sinha has alleged that late PM Rajeev Gandhi has been abused with ‘Fattu’ kind of word in the show.
“A serial on Netflix called Sacred Games has a scene in which the protagonist of the serial played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui is seen abusing our late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by calling him ‘fattu’ (pussy as translated in the subtitle of the show and misrepresenting facts during his regime. The serial has crossed all limits of decency and has taken Indian Film Industry to a new low”, reads the complaint letter. The complaint has also been forwarded to CP, Joint CP and DC of Kolkata police.
When Sinha was asked about his complaint, he said, “I have been watching the show and found it very derogatory, specially the dialogue where it says, ‘Rajiv Gandhi did the same thing. He dealt with Shah Bano and the country separately. In 1986, Shah Bano’s husband divorced her through ‘triple talaq’. She took him to court and won the case. But our former PM, Rajiv Gandhi a fattu (pussy) overturned the court’s judgement and threw Shah Bano to the mullahs. The Hindus criticized him for this. He had the Ramayan show aired on TV to please them’. Such language and distorted facts cannot be accepted.” The entire scene is less than a minute long.
The show was premiered last week and has managed to grab the attention of the audience worldwide. The Netflix series is based on author Vikram Chandra’s novel. It has been directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It’s a saga of crime and politics, the parts where Siddiqui plays the character of Ganesh Gaitonde is directed by Kashyap and Motwani has directed those portions where Saif Ali Khan plays Sartaj Singh a Sikh cop.
