Complaint file against ‘Zero’ makers after Sikh sentiments allegedly hurt

While the trailer of ‘Zero’ has generally garnered a positive response since it was released last week, a section of the audience has expressed its anger at the makers of the film for allegedly hurting Sikh sentiments.

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa has filed a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan and others after the trailer of the film showed the superstar wearing a kirpan.

Taking to social media, Sirsa said, “Shame on Shahrukh Khan on devaluing Sikh Kakaar and hurting Sikh sentiments by showing Kirpaan as a show-off ordinary dagger. Kirpaan can only be worn by a #Khalsa – a pure Human being. I demand Shahrukh Khan & Zero film producer Gauri Khan to immediately withdraw this poster #Zero . We would be forced to take legal action against Zero film team if this poster and promotion is not withdrawn.”

The complaint added that the scene concerned has created an outrage among the Sikh community globally. He said that a number of complaints from the Sikh Sangat had already been received objecting to the scene.
