Colors is set to overhaul its primetime offerings by axing two of its much loved shows due to falling figures.

In recent weeks, Colors has been dislodged from third place in the India ratings after competition from the Indian Premier League and Star Life Ok. In response to this, the channel has put a plan in place by adding ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ in the weekend slot and is soon to launch two new fictions during the weekday.

BizAsia can confirm that ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ will be the first to face the chop on Friday 20th June. In the UK, ‘Bani’ airs on Rishtey – it will end at later date. Balaji Telefilms’ ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’ will replace the show on Tuesday 24th June.

Another big show ‘Madhubala’ is set to bid adieu next month. The fiction, which stars Vivian D’Sena and Drashti Dhami has been in troubled waters for many months and has undergone many changes in the storyline without any major change in the low viewing figures. ‘Madhubala’ is expected to end sometime in June, however, Colors is yet to officially confirm the final date of transmission. Dhami is currently seen as presenter on ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.

TellyChakkar reports Shakuntalam Telefilms۪ ‘Shastri Sisters’ will take the vacant weekday 20:30 slot from Monday 14th July. Colors has not yet confirmed the replacement show for ‘Madhubala’.
