Colors & Rishtey leave Freeview in UK

Colors and Rishtey, which have been on a ratings roll recently in the UK, have today left the Freeview platform.

The two channels, along with Colors HD, Rishtey Cineplex and News18 will now only be available with a subscription on Sky or Virgin Media. Colors, Rishtey and Rishtey Cineplex were the last of the big Asian TV channels from India to join the Sky basic pack. They will now compete directly with Star Plus, Star Gold, Life OK, Star Utsav, ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, ZEE Punjabi, Zing, &TV, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX, Sony SAB TV, Sony Mix, B4U Movies and B4U Music.

Since the recent Sky changes, viewers flocked to Colors, Rishtey and Rishtey Cineplex, which were available free-to-air up until now. Colors HD will join the Sky Box Sets pack, along with Star Plus HD, Sony TV HD, Sony MAX HD and &TV HD.

I have discovered so many things about Indian culture – the rituals, the social order, the way that people relate to each other and the observation of religious custom to name a few. • Hey don’t be too upset, you can get the cheapest bundle for about £10 which gives you countless Asian channels. And if you don’t want a subscription I’m sure there are still free channels available.
