Colors buys first Yash Raj film ‘Lafangey Parindey’

For the first time in years, another TV channel other than Sony Entertainment Television Asia has acquired a film from the Yash Raj Film catalogue.

Colors has done the unexpected by purchasing the movie rights of the recently released, ‘Lafangey Parindey’ starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone.

Up until now, Sony TV was the sole broadcaster of Yash Raj movies but Colors struck a deal with the production giant to screen this movie, as well as an integration of ‘Lafangey Parindey’ on its show ‘India۪s Got Talent’.

Viacom18 Group CCO and head international business Gaurav Gandhi said, “Colors has always been a trend-setter in bridging the gap between the two screens with its impressive bank of latest blockbusters. With this YRF association, we have taken a step further in bringing together properties which share a common theme – of identifying and encouraging the real Indian talent.”

Colors is beefing up its movie library ahead of the official launch of its new movie channel. Details of which are expected soon.

The channel already confirmed it will telecast huge movie giants such as ‘Dabbang’, ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, ‘Tees Mar Khan’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Patiala House’ and ‘No One Killed Jessica’.

The channel has snapped up rights for smaller budget films like ‘Udaan’, ‘Tum Mile’, ‘Lamhaa’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘Mad Madder Maddest’ and ‘PhilumCity’.
