Colors begins EPG data testing ahead of launch

The much awaited UK launch of Viacom-18’s Hindi entertainment channel, Colors is just around the corner if any of the EPG data tests are to go by.

Programme details for Colors have replaced EPG data that once displayed information for the now defunct, 9XM on the Sky Digital platform.

Even though 9XM was removed from the EPG channel line-up (EPG 829) before Christmas, it continues to broadcast with a live feed from India off the Sky EPG by tuning in manually.

A spokesman for INX Network told BizAsia.co.uk that the channel was ceasing its transmission “anytime now”, which will pave way for the first tests of the leading Indian Hindi entertainment channel, Colors.

Now that EPG data tests of Colors have begun, it will not be too long before we see visual and audio testing of Colors. Sources have hinted that tests are likely sometime this week.

It was exclusively reported on BizAsia.co.uk that Colors had purchased the EPG slot from 9XM to launch its hit channel in the UK. In the States, Colors’ launch will take place in the coming weeks with a new identity – ‘Aapka Colors’ to differentiate itself from the existing Colors channel in the US market.

For viewers who wish to view the EPG data tests of Colors, follow the steps below to tune into the old 9XM channel label:

-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter frequency: 11.427 (V), FEC: 2/3, SR: 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight “9XM” service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> “9XM” should be listed and available
