Chitrangda Singh: “I’ve wanted to work with Tigmanshu for a while”

Having taken things a little slow with acting recently, Chitrangda Singh is back in full gear. With a number of projects lined up, the actress is now, nothing short of busy. One of her main projects includes sharing the screen with Sanjay Dutt and Radhika Apte, in the Tigmanshu Dhulia directorial, ‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster’. Apparently, she had high hopes with working with the director for a while.

“I’ve wanted to work with Tigmanshu (Dhulia) for a while and in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, he let me dance and do other commercial stuff,” Pinkvilla reports Singh revealing.

Talking about her character, the actress revealed, ” I play a traditional, Rajasthani smalltown girl. Tigmanshu is a tough taskmaster, he doesn’t let go till your performance aligns with his vision. It also helps that he is an actor himself.”

In regards to her other projects, Singh is currently working on her next release, opposite Saif Ali Khan in Gauravv Chawla’s ‘Baazaar’, as well as venturing into her first project as a producer with Shaad Ali’s former Indian hockey captain Sandeep Singh biopic, ‘Soorma’.

Talking about the production, which will star Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu, Singh explained, “I happened to meet former Indian hockey captain Sandeep Singh and was so moved by his life story; I decided it had to be made into a film. It’s not often that you see an athlete make such a brilliant comeback.”

“The decision to produce the film, ‘Soorma’, took shape from there and I got down to assembling a team for it. I’m super excited to have Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu on board. Diljit fit so perfectly in Sandeep’s character, I couldn’t have asked for anyone better,” she signed off.
