As most of Shah Rukh Khan’s big release fall on the day of Eid, his forthcoming film ‘Chennai Express’ is no different. So when the film makers found that Eid falls on August 9 instead of August 8, there was no question but to push back the release one day later.

“A national holiday has been declared on August 9. The film is a big budget project. It۪s much anticipated as it is the star۪s first film with Rohit Shetty. The producers are expecting a huge opening and releasing the film a day later makes wise business decision,” Mid-Day reported a source confirming.

Gaurav Verma, director of Theatrical Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV reportedly added, “We always wanted to come on Eid. And now as the festival will be celebrated on August 9, which also happens to be a bank holiday, it makes sense to release the film on the same day.”

‘Chennai Express’ will see Khan and Deepika Padukone teaming up for the second time since 2007, when Padukone made her debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’ opposite Khan.
