Channels switch to Mumbai blasts story

UK Asian TV channels have switched to news updates on the bomb blasts that have shaken India’s commercial capital, Mumbai.

While mainstream broadcasters, Sky News and BBC News lead with the story of News Corporation withdrawing its bid for BSkyB over phone hacking allegations, Asian channels are running with the Mumbai blasts.

Aaj Tak, Star News, NDTV 24×7, ARY News and Geo News are bringing rolling news coverage from Mumbai. ZEE TV on the other hand interrupted it’s regular programming to carry coverage from it’s news channel ZEE News live from India.Sky News has reported officials describing it as another terror attack on the city which was hit by Pakistan-based militants in 2008.

One blast occurred at the Opera House, another was in the crowded central neighborhood of Dadar and a third blast, also in south Mumbai, was at the Zaveri Bazaar.
