Channel Punjab readies itself for Bhangra X Factor

The final of Channel Punjab’s ‘Chak De Phatte’ will be held in Birmingham this Sunday (27th January), which is being branded as the Bhangra version of the hugely popular ‘X Factor’.

A press release said, “‘Chak De Phatte’ means expressing yourself to the maximum in Punjabi. Chak De Phatte talent search was launched at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in August 2007, followed with auditions in London where thousands of contestants registered to compete in this first televised Punjabi talent hunt in UK.

On Sunday we will see last of the 15 contestants battling it out to win a prize of a lifetime recording deal with leading artistes from the Bhangra music industry in UK and India. The winner will be coached by Channi Singh (Alaap Group), music will be composed and produced by Tejwant Kittu (leading music producer from Punjab and UK), the renowned Apache Indian will also do a collaboration on the recording, Channel Punjab will shoot and promote the Music Video and the winner will be touring the UK and abroad with live stage performances.”

The judges for the competition are Tejwant Kittu (music producer), Channi Singh (Alaap Group), Apache Indian (singer) and Slinder Pardesi (singer). The event will be hosted by Amerjit Sidhu and performances by leading UK Bhangra Artistes including Aman Hayer, Silinder Pardesi, Apache Indian to name but a few.
