Channel I to replace Channel S NTV on Sky

Troubled Bangladeshi service NTV, distributed in the UK by Channel S will be replaced by Bangla news provider Channel I, according to the broadcaster.

Channel S NTV was previously available on Sky Digital EPG 826; however its transmission was disrupted in February when a fire struck in the building where the channel is based in Dhaka.

Since then, the UK feed had to rely on looped NTV shows, which subsequently were suspended to make way for a temporary channel replacement by the name of MTN. The religious channel will remain on air until mid-September before its EPG space is permanently taken over by Channel I.

Channel I was the first digital channel to launch in Bangaldesh in 1999. The channel broadcasts educational, news and entertainment content.

There are also plans to resurrect NTV in the UK once its broadcast has been rectified in Bangladesh.
