Channel I replaces Vectone Music on Sky

The change has taken place…As revealed exclusively by Biz Asia last month, Vectone has launched a second Bengali channel to complement the existing Vectone Bangla channel.

To coincide with the change, Vectone Music has now been removed entirely from the Vectone line-up of channels. This now means that the new Vectone Channel I will be seen in Vectone Music’s former EPG home of 814.

According to an insider, Vectone Music may make a comeback next year. The channel was replaced due to the launch of the new Bengali channel, which will broadcast shows directly from Bangladesh’s private satellite service Channel I. BSkyB’s long waiting list of providing new EPG numbers prevented Vectone Channel I to launch on its own EPG, giving no other option but to replace Vectone Music.

The existing Vectone Bangla channel has tied-up with another Bangladesh broadcaster-NTV. Both channels are set to encrypt later this month. Vectone Bangla (NTV) can be found on EPG 820.

Looks like the competition in the Bengali channel market is seriously heating up. Last week, we announced how rivals Bangla TV and ATN Bangla have struck a deal to be sold together. The new scheme takes effect from the end of this month.
