Channel 4 unveils Asian family for observation series_

Channel 4 is taking TV’s most intimate look yet at British Asian life with a fly-on-the-wall series about three generations of a Sikh family.

Following the success of the BAFTA nominated ‘The Family’ in 2008, the Grewal family from Windsor will be the subject of this major observational documentary.

They will be the subject of 8 one-hour films that will start airing Wednesday 4th November.

Highlights of the series include the birth of a new baby and a big Indian wedding.

Directed by David Clews, this year’s series will be the first documentary of its kind to show British Asian life in such detail. The Grewals were filmed over a period of 8 weeks with 28 cameras following them around the clock.

Simon Dickson, deputy head of documentaries at Channel 4, said: “Following the success of last year’s series, we are lucky to have found another brilliant family through whose eyes we can experience the highs and lows of family life. The Grewals are close knit and wonderfully warm – I know viewers are going to take them to their hearts over the coming weeks.”

David Clews said: “Making ‘The Family’ has been an incredible experience. I think the films capture both the big issues and the intimate moments of family life and I hope everyone will enjoy spending time with the Grewals in the same way I have.”
