Channel 4 runs mini Indian film season

Channel 4 has announced its annual mini Indian film season featuring six moving stories from India.

The confirmed films being showcased during the season this time around include ‘Qissa’, which kicked off over the weekend. Anup Singh’s award-winning drama about obsession and sexual identity is set in 1947. The film is in Punjabi with English subtitles. It aired on Sunday 5th April at 01:00.

The other five titles include – 1969 Gujarati film ‘Bhuvan Shome’ will air on Sunday 12th April at 12:40, 1987 Hindi film ‘Mirch Masala’ starring Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil. It will broadcast on Sunday 19th April. The alternative Hindi offering ‘Kali Salwaar’ starring Kay Kay Menon will air on Sunday 26th April. The 1971 hit film ‘Ashad Ka Ek Din’ will be shown on Sunday 3rd May. The Malayalam film ‘Naalu Pennungal’ starring Nandita Das is scheduled to air on Sunday 10th May.

The mainstream annual Bollywood season will air on Channel 4 in September.
