Chandra appointed NDTV (UK) CEO & MD

NDTV has announced the appointment of Vikram Chandra as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for NDTV Networks PLC, a 100% subsidiary incorporated in the UK.

As CEO of NDTV Networks PLC, Chandra will steer the group�۪s new business initiatives worldwide comprising entertainment, lifestyle, convergence, outsourcing, new channels planned in different countries and software/technology development. All of them will be run as independent companies and will be managed and led by professional CEOs. He will report to Prannoy Roy and the Board of Directors of NDTV Networks.

Chandra has been leading the company�۪s growth initiatives for the last one year and has played a significant role in incubating several of these businesses. He has served as CEO of ndtv.com, the company�۪s Internet and mobile content operations, and as Managing Editor of NDTV Profit, the business news channel.

Chandra started his career as a reporter with Newstrack in 1991. He joined NDTV in 1995 and made a mark with his frontline reporting from Kargil and Siachen. He has anchored more than 1,000 hours of live coverage of elections, budgets and Indo-Pak summits.

He will continue as one of NDTV�۪s most experienced anchors and senior journalists. The World Economic Forum in Davos has honoured him as a ��Global Leader of Tomorrow�۪ in 2007.

The other new appointments made are Smeeta Chakrabarti and Rahul Deshpande who have been respectively appointed as CEO of NDTV Lifestyle Ltd and NDTV Labs Ltd, which is a software and technology company. Both these companies are subsidiaries of NDTV Networks PLC.
