‘Chandni Bar’ sequel to go on the floors

In 2001, ��Chandni Bar�۪ was a film which was appreciated by many. BizAsia has come to know that a sequel for the film is soon to commence, made by Harish Kotian and Sandeep Choudhary.�� It�۪s titled ‘Chandni Bar 2 Ruby Bar’.

Kotian spoke to TOI, ���The sequel focuses on the plight of Mumbai’s bar dancer girls in the aftermath of the ban, at a time when dance bar owners are waiting for a licence (to be issued by March 15) to be back in business. I began writing it soon after the ban came into effect�۝.

He continues, ���Our film will concentrate on the political dynamics around the functioning of the bar and how it impacts the lives of girls who work there, supporting their families with the money they earn dancing�۝.

���We will go on the floors in April and the film will be shot entirely in Mumbai. We may venture out of the city to shoot a song but that’s it. The film will be an eye-opener for the government,�۝ he adds.

Suchitra Pillai and Zakir Hussain have already been cast in roles.
