Celebrating Holi Bollywood style

Holi has to be one of the most colourful festivals in the world. It has to be one festival that Bollywood loves to include in their movies and there’s no wonder with the fun and festivities it evokes on the big screen. With the colours, bhang and naach-gaana in full flow, holi adds a real moment of fun and flirting between the characters and it definitely one moment in the film that the audience loves to watch. If there ever was a song that immortalised the festival of holi, this would be it. Rang Barse is the evergreen song for the colour filled festival and was sung and picturised on Amitabh Bachchan. The song was directed by Yash Chopra and showed off Bachchan and Rekha’s chemistry perfectly. It is one song, which is still played at festivals all over the world.

Holi Ke Din from ‘Sholay’ (1975)

‘Sholay’ is an iconic movie in Bollywood and is still one, which is very well loved by the audience. Holi Ke Din is picturised on Hema Malini and Dharmendra and takes place at a key moment in the film. It was sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar and their voices suited the actors perfectly. This song is still remembered to this day at Holi festivals and is played to the crowds at gatherings.

Ang Se Ang from ‘Darr’ (1993)

‘Darr’ is one film with cult status among the audience and it is still one that is enjoyed by many to this day. Ang Se Ang is picturised on Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol and it captured both their cute chemistry on screen with holi taking place in the background.

Soni Soni from ‘Mohabbatein’ (2000)

‘Mohabbatein’ is the story of young love and with the number of couples in the film, Soni Soni created some sentimental moments in the film. Shah Rukh Khan provides the energy in this song and has a touching moment with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character within the song too. This song is what everyone else around the world imagines holi to be like in India.

Balam Pichkari from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ (2013)

This Holi song is the modern day holi song that has enraptured the audience worldwide. Pictured on one of the most popular Bollywood couples of today Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the song is a fun interlude in the film which perfectly encapsulates the modern day holi. The song has some brilliant moments between the characters and takes a very youthful look at the festival.
