CBS show ‘Hollywood Square’ adapted for India audiences

Today, the global Video-on-Demand OTT service by Vuclip and PCCW, Morris Street Advisors, Star Maa, the leading Telugu entertainment channel which is part of Star India, Viu, and GroupM’s Motion Content Group joined hands to bring the most successful global format ‘Hollywood Squares’ to India.

This collaboration will present the Indian version of multiple Emmy award-winning and internationally successful CBS show format ‘Hollywood Squares’ for the Telugu audience titled as ‘Tollywood Squares’. This partnership will help deliver content cross-platform as the show will be available on a digital platform and a television channel simultaneously. Morris Street Advisors, a boutique content leader, has acquired the format rights to ‘Hollywood Squares’ from CBS Studios International for India and has partnered with Viu to produce localised version of the format.

‘Hollywood Squares’ is the first major gameshow format from CBS to be produced in India. Created in Telugu, the 26-episode weekend show is set to go live on 27th January 2018 on Star Maa and the Viu app and website simultaneously where one episode will release every Saturday and Sunday at 21:30. The series will introduce audiences to a never-before-seen format in regional entertainment. Hosted by film actor and television personality Navdeep Pallapolu, the series will be based on Tic-Tac-Toe, a universally popular game and will showcase nine new celebrities and two new contestants in each episode.

Setting trends in television with every new show, the launch of ‘Tollywood Squares’ is aligned to Star Maa’s promise of delivering compelling content that appeals to the masses by breaking conventional boundaries of language. This show is in line with Viu’s continued focus on original regional content since launching in 2016, including ‘PillA’, ‘Pelli Gola’, ‘No.1 Yaari’, ‘Spotlight’, ‘Gehraiyaan’ and others.

Viewers can watch ‘Tollywood Squares’ on Star Maa and Viu App & website on 27th January 2018 at 21:30 every Saturday, and Sunday.
