CBFC goes easy on Hindi slang in ‘Begum Jaan’

begum-jaan

The Censor Board are often trouble for filmmakers, forcing them to make cuts and edits at the last minute to their films which can harm the storyline. However, director Srijit Mukherji has been lucky with forthcoming Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’.

The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has let the film pass even though it includes a few racy Hindi slang words. As Mid-Day reports, Pahlaj Nihalani, Chief, Sanskari Censor Board gave the film the go ahead despite it having some racy language delivered by the character of a prostitute in the film. However Mukherji has been advised to mute 11 swear words in the film.

The film’s producer Vishesh Bhatt was reported stating,”We are happy that the Board has appreciated the spirit of the narrative. The vision of the director has been accepted as the final call.”
