Casting woes for Azharuddin biopic?

Emraan Hashmi has already been cast to star in the Ekta Kapoor produced biopic of cricket Mohammad Azharuddin, titled ‘Azhar’. However, although many names have been thrown into the mix, it seems the makers are finding it difficult to cast the role opposite Hashmi, to play the role of Azharuddin’s wife.

Azharuddin’s first wife will be played by Prachi Desai but the second female lead is yet to be finalised. According to the Hindustan Times, a source revealed, “The makers of the biopic are still struggling to lock the cast. The film has two female lead characters, and Prachi will play one of them. They are unable to get a second actress on board.

“While the plot is interesting, no actress wants to star opposite Emraan as his last few releases have not fared well at the box office,” added the source.

The film is to be directed by Anthony D’Souza.
