#CancelNetflix trends after launch of controversial film ‘Cuties’

Viewers have taken to social media in their droves to trend #CancelNetflix after the streaming giant, Netflix launched controversial French film ‘Cuties’.

A campaign has been launched for viewers to either cancel their Netflix subscription in protest or force Netflix to drop the film from its line-up.

Some social media users have shared pictures from the film, which show 11-year-olds twerking. Some branded the film “child porn” and “disgusting”, while other accused the film of supporting paedophilia.

The film revolves around an 11-year-old Senegalese Muslim girl, Amy. Its director says that the film is meant to depict the struggle of “many children who have to navigate between a liberal western culture and a conservative culture at home”, according to the Daily Mail.
