BT Sport confirmed as second broadcaster of IPL 2019 in UK

BT Sport has been confirmed as the second broadcaster in the UK to televise the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019), just days after Star Gold UK announced it will also air the lucrative tournament.

This is the first time BT Sport will broadcast the IPL. It will not only broadcast the series but also stream coverage of the cricketing spectacle on its website and BT Sport app, sharing it with Star TV’s Hotstar digital platform.

The season starts today in Chennai, as Kohli captains the Royal Challengers against last year’s champions who boast the likes of Dhoni, David Willey and Dwayne Bravo.

Andy Haworth, managing director of strategy and content for BT Consumer, said, “The VIVO IPL is one of the most exciting cricket competitions in the world right now and offers something for all of our customers. With some of cricket’s biggest names lighting up the league every day, BT Sport will bring you all of the action and excitement.”
