British Muslim Radio rebranded to ‘Awesome’

A new radio station dedicated to Muslim lifestyle, music and speech in the UK, has had a rebrand before its gone on-air.

British Muslim Radio was announced as one of the new services being offered on the new national Digital 2 multiplex. However, its now been confirmed that the station will no longer be known as that but instead just Awesome Radio. It is not known why the station has been renamed. Awesome Radio comes from the same company that runs Asian Sound Radio in Manchester.

Awesome Radio, will join two other Asian commercial stations – Sunrise Radio and Panjab Radio on the new national multiplex. All 18 new radio stations will go live on Monday 29th February backed by a huge marketing campaign by Sound Digital. The Secretary of State, Rt Hon John Whittingdale MP, will perform the official switch-on of the new multiplex network built by transmission provider Arqiva at a Central London event on Tuesday 1st March. This event will also see the launch of the national Big Retune campaign to encourage listeners to retune their digital radios to access the full range of available stations.
