Brit drama ‘Cloud 9’ to air in India on ZEE Cafe

The UK’s first daily British Asian drama ‘Cloud 9’ produced by Picturegate Productions is premiering in India on ZEE Caf̩, starting on Monday.

‘Cloud 9’, which launched in the UK at the beginning of this year stars Niki Walia (Dr. Simran from ZEE TV�۪s Hit drama ��Astitva�۪) and Omar Khan who has appeared in Bollywood movies, most of the artists are fresh faces in the South-Asian media space and they fit well with the characters portrayed in the show.

The English drama highlights the British-Asian lifestyle, drawing on familiar themes, issues and day to day events within the British-Asian community. It showcases the British Asian community in its true form, tackling widely perceived stereotypes regarding the UK�۪s largest ethnic group ��� the South Asians.

While the show has received a lukewarm reception in the UK with below average ratings, numbers are expected to pick-up in weeks to come with much more grittier storylines. It remains to be seen how Indian audiences will respond to the show when it launches this week.

‘Cloud 9’ airs from Monday 13th May at 12:30 on ZEE Caf̩ India. It will air every weekday afternoon. In the UK, ‘Cloud 9’ airs on Zing weekday evenings at 18:30 and 22:30.
