Brit Asia TV in trouble over “dead foetuses” video

Ofcom has rapped Brit Asia TV for broadcasting a music video which contained a still image of dead foetuses.

The video was aired on 6th October 2012 at 18:30 on the programme ‘Fresh Hits’.

Brit Asia TV said, “This is the first time it has made such an error in five years of broadcasting, and that it was committed to maintaining professional standards and adhering to the Code at all times.”

However, media regulator Ofcom found the “error resulted from a significant compliance failure” and as a consequence it breached rules 1.3 and 2.3.

Ofcom added, “Brit Asia TV’s admission that the version of the music video which was shown had originally been rejected and was broadcast in error.”
