Brit Asia TV continues to report zero rating

Concern surrounding Brit Asia TV has grown after the popular music channel reported a “zero” weekly reach for the second consecutive week by BARB.

It is not yet known if Brit Asia TV has withdrawn from BARB reporting or if the channel’s viewership has plummeted after its recent revamp. Over the past month, Brit Asia TV’s weekly reach stood as below:

5th February
112,000 viewers

12th February
150,000 viewers

19th February
17,000 viewers

26th February
Zero

5th March
Zero

The significant change occurred during week ending 19th February when the channel’s reach dropped from 150,000 to 17,000 viewers. The downward trend continued the following two weeks and has remained at zero since then. It was expected the broadcaster would see a rise in viewership after the recent Brit Asia World Music Awards, which were held in Birmingham this month – but this doesn’t seem to have happened.

Brit Asia TV’s efforts to entice new viewers to the channel with a rebrand and the inclusion of non-Asian music, seems to have had a mixed response from viewers. However, if the figures are true and the channel’s weekly reach has fallen, this will signify the changes have taken an adverse effect in terms of ratings.
