There is only one release today and it is of the film that has been on everyone’s lips for a good few weeks if not more. Produced by Dharma Productions and starring ex-flames Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and also Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has received an overwhelming response at the box office on the first day and collections are only going to rise this weekend.

Trade experts had rightfully predicted that the film would get a bumper opening and many had said that ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ could well prove to be the biggest opener in the careers of both Kapoor and Padukone. According to Box Office India, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has seen 90-100% occupancy in multiplexes in the morning shows. Single screens are also doing well, it is being reported. Advanced booking have been available since Monday and it is thought this has helped the occupancy rate on this, the film’s first day.

In the sub-continent, the film has opened in 3000 screens following heavy promotions worldwide with the cast visiting many countries to further theirs and the film’s reach. ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will also be releasing in Israel and will be the first film to see a release there in a decade.

On its opening day, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ took a massive 32 crores at the domestic ticket windows when it released last year. Trade analysts are predicting that ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will collect at least 25 crores, making it the biggest opening ever for a romantic thriller.
