Today sees the release of a movie which has been in the news for some time; ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’. Starring Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol, the film is the sequel to ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ which saw success in 2011. Early figures show that the film has opened well in India.
Filmed primarily in the UK, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ has many high expectations surrounding it. Understandly, the film has achieved better occupancy in Delhi, Punjab and UP but hasn’t done so well in cities such as Mumbai and Kolkata. In other areas, it seems audiences are still opting for last week’s release, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
2011’s ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ took in around 6 crores on opening day and it remains to be seen whether this second instalment will do the same. Needless to say, the continuing strength and popularity of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ may prove detrimental.
‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has crossed the 100 crores mark both worldwide and domestically, even surpassing 2013’s previous record set by ‘Race 2’.
