Box Office: Unsatisfactory openings for ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ & ‘Singh Saab The Great’

'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' releases today

Today sees the releases of Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein۪ and also Sunny Deol۪s Singh Saab The Great۪. Early buzz is that neither have opened fantastically.
Both movies have seen average openings in different parts of India but overall have only managed to see around 25-30% occupancy, according to Box Office India. Singh Saab The Great۪ has seen a good 50% occupancy around Rajasthan and Punjab but otherwise only 15% in some places.
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein۪ was promoted heavily internationally but surprisingly seems not to be doing as well as expected. This may have something to do with Dharma Productions۪ very sombre promotions on homeland with a preview screening for industry folk only the night before as opposed to a few days prior to its release. It is the norm for such screenings to take place in good time for a film’s release so as to create excitement amongst fans who will see well-known names and critics talking about a given project in advance of the big day.
Last week۪s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela۪ is expected to give the two movies a dent in collections as it still appears popular in Gujarat and also in Mumbai.
