Box Office: ‘Udta Punjab’ takes a flying start in India

The much talked about controversial Abhishek Chaubey film ‘Udta Punjab’ has taken off to an excellent start at the box office in India.

According to Box Office India, the film starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan, opened up to around 50% collections in Delhi, East Punjab and Banaglore. The film’s opening is the biggest for Shahid Kapoor or Alia Bhatt starrer.

The report adds that the opening collections of the film could impact ‘Fan’, which had the biggest opening of the year. It will be interesting how the film pans out over the next couple of days and whether it will sustain the positive word of mouth and figures to along with it.

The film was bound to take a good start at the ticket window on the back of the immense publicity it has received over the past few days.
