Box Office: ‘Takht’ to release on Diwali 2020; ‘Rannbhoomi’ delayed

Dharma Productions has reportedly delayed the release of its Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Rannbhoomi’, which will now make way for ‘Takht’ to release on Diwali 2020.

KoiMoi reports that Dharma Productions has put ‘Rannbhoomi’ on the backburner due to script issues.

A source told the publication, “In the past, Dharma Productions had blocked the Diwali 2016 weekend for the release of Shudhhi, however as the film got shelved, Karan Johar went ahead to release his own directorial, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on the same slot. History will repeat itself now as his next, a period drama titled Takht starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Jahnvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar will hit the screen during the Diwali 2020 weekend initially blocked for Rannbhoomi.”

Talking about ‘Takht’, which stars an array of actors including Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, amongst other, is expected to go on the floors next year. “The movie will go on floors by mid-next year, however given the scale at which the film is planned, enormous amount of pre-production is required. Efforts are taken to present Ranveer Singh in a never seen before avatar given the fact that the actor has already been a part of two period films,” added the source.
