Box Office: Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ & Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ set for clash
Sunny Deol is set to go head-to-head at the box office with Ranbir Kapoor, when the films of both actors release on India’s Independence Day 2023.
Deol will reprise the role of Tara Singh in ‘Gadar 2’, which picks up from where the 2001 film ended. The original proved a runaway success and emerged as one of the highest grossing films of all time in history of Indian cinema.
A source told PinkVilla, “Gadar 2 is all set to release on August 11, 2023, coinciding with the Independence Day 2023 weekend. It’s a film that celebrates the sense of being an Indian and there’s no better period that Independence Day for it’s release. The edit work is underway and an official announcement on the release date shall follow soon.”

‘Gadar 2’ will clash with Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, which releases on the same weekend. “It’s going to be Sunny Deol vs Bobby Deol at the box office this Independence Day. While both the films are big scale saga’s appealing to the masses, the period is big enough to accommodate both of them. Even Gadar: Ek Prem Katha had clashed with Lagaan at the box office, and the history will repeat itself for Gadar 2,” added the source.
