The release date of political drama ‘Shorgul’ has shifted back to its original date 24th June, to avert a clash with ‘Udta Punjab’ this weekend.

Initially, the Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana-starrer was scheduled for a 24th June, it was then preponed to 17th June after the controversy surrounding ‘Udta Punjab’. However, now the film has been cleared for release this weekend, ‘Shorgul’ will now hit theatres on 24th June.

We don۪t want this message to be lost when an equally socially relevant film like Udta Punjab is releasing and hence, the rescheduling, as audiences need time to relate and consume such heavy-on content thinking films,۝ Swatantra Vijay Singh said in a statement.

Our film has a strong message that comes in the form of a wake-up call for the masses to be the change they always wanted to see. This is a film that makes us think. Our film reinstates the gross reality of today where the voice of the common man is being manipulated to favour socio-political motives,۝ he added.
