Today sees the release of Shaadi Ke Side Effects۪, starring Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan who are two powerhouse performances respectively. The film is produced jointly by Balaji Motion Pictures and Pritish Nandy Communications. Early reports suggest that the film۪s start at the Indian box office has been average.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects۪ is a sequel to 2006۪s Pyaar Ke Side Effects۪ which starred Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat. This second instalment looks at the side effects۪ of wedded bliss and with Aktar and Balan coming together for the first time, it looked promising from the start. According to Box Office India, the film has done well in the early shows, reaching 25-30% occupancy in some areas. However, the multiplex life of the film seems to look a little dull apart from in Delhi which saw around a 35% occupancy. Shaadi Ke Side Effects۪ has had a better occupancy percentage that Highway۪ and Hasee Toh Phasee۪ which released earlier this month.

Last week۪s release Highway۪ has had mixed reviews but has had a decent first week at the domestic box office, collecting around 21.75 crores nett. The film۪s stars Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda have been more than pleased with the comments about their performances. Imtiaz Ali, who directed the film, may not get huge success at the box office but this is arguably one of his best films in Indian cinema, having premiered at the Berlinale Festival in Germany a week before its official release.
