Box Office: Rohit Shetty’s next & ‘Bajirao Mastani’ set for December clash?

Box office clashes in Bollywood have been more apparent in recent years as filmmakers look to release their films around dates when the audiences will have full time to go to the theatres. It seems Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shah Rukh Khan are all set to clash once again after the notorious head-to-head that happened in 2007 between ‘Saawariya’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’. The two films in questions this time are ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and Rohit Shetty’s untitled film which stars Khan.

Earlier, it was being said that ‘Bajirao Mastani’ would face a delay but it seems the release date is very much fixed for Christmas 2015. Rohit Shetty’s next – starring Khan, Varun Dhawan and possibly Kajol (although an announcement is awaited) – could well be releasing on 23rd December with ‘Bajirao Mastani’ hitting the screens just two days later on Christmas day.

A source spoke to Deccan Chronicle, “The two had lately reconciled their differences ever since they fell out during their Devdas days. Shah Rukh was at Sanjay�۪s Padma Shri party. Sanjay had no idea about Shah Rukh�۪s plans to release his film suddenly on the same Friday as Bajirao Mastani”.

Interestingly, the initial clash was going to be ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Tamasha’ – both starring Deepika Padukone. However, producer Sajid Nadiadwala pulled ‘Tamasha’ out of the equation. The source continued, “There is no sense in this kind of clash. One or the other film is bound to suffer. Our film Tamasha is delicate, sensitive and thought provoking. Sajid doesn�۪t want to put it up against an SRK-Shetty entertainer. We don�۪t know about Bhansali. But we�۪re out of here.”

Well, it will certainly be an interesting clash if it eventually ends up happening. Wait and watch!
