Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest release ‘Rangoon’ has had a very slow start at the box office in India.

The film, which has been in the news over the past few weeks, has an ensemble cast featuring Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut. Despite this though, the film could only fetch an opening of around 10-15% from morning shows, according to Box Office India. The film was expected to take a bigger audience, in particular from the big cities who understand the subject of the film better.

It remains to be seen how the film fares over the next few days. It may benefit from the Mahashivratri holiday in parts of India but chances look slim after a rather disappointing start this morning.

‘Rangoon’ has no serious competition at the box office either, which makes the opening of the film even more concerning.
