Box Office: ‘Ram-Leela’ opens well but ‘Rajjo’ disappoints

There are three releases today: ��Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela�۪ (��Ram-Leela�۪), ��Rajjo�۪ and Punjab cinema�۪s ��Bhaji in Problem�۪. No doubt early predictions would have put ��Ram-Leela�۪ as the front-runner and it is emerging so despite yesterday�۪s court order which resulted in a name change.

According to Box Office India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ��Ram-Leela�۪ has opened well in multiplexes at about 60% occupancy but single screens have been less impressive. The film, which stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, has been heavily promoted for weeks and it is expected that the takings at the box office will go up as the weekend progresses. The film�۪s advanced booking unavailability ��� due to the court judgement ��� is perhaps not helping it achieve its potential on the first day but word of mouth, positive reviews and general interest is sure to increase activity at the ticket windows. In Punjab, the film has proven less popular than ��Bhaji in Problem�۪ which has done well in the region. ��Rajjo�۪, starring Kangna Ranaut, has disappointed at the box office, registering occupancy of just 10%.

��Krrish 3�۪ still seems to be going strong even after two weeks in the cinemas but is expected to decrease in occupancy what with the release of ��Ram-Leela�۪. The film has broken many records since it�۪s release and is just short of reaching the lifetime amount made by ��Chennai Express�۪ which released in August.
