Today sees the release of a number of movies and, no doubt, the variety the audiences will have this weekend will mean that there is no outright winner at the all important box office. Films releasing today include ‘Vishwaroop’, ‘Midnight’s Children’, ‘Mai’, ‘David’, ‘Deewana Main Deewana’ and, last but not the least, ‘Listen Amaya’.

‘Vishwaroop’, Kamal Hassan’s film which has recently been shrouded by censorship controversy, has gained an abysmal start at the box office as has Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer ‘David’. Although ticket window numbers are thought to have an increase by the weekend, it seems promotions for both movies have done little to help. ‘Midnight’s Children’, ‘Deewana Main Deewana’ and ‘Listen Amaya’ are achieving below that of ‘Vishwaroop’ and ‘David’. Asha Bhosle’s debut film, ‘Mai’ had a grand premiere which saw attendance by many Bollywood greats, including Amitabh Bachchan, onThursday night. However, despite the little hype that was created, translation ofitat the box office has been virtually non-existent.

The dull openings for this, the first Friday of the month, are sure to prove a blessing for lastweek’s release,’Race 2′. Trade experts predict that the multi-starrer may hit the 100-crore mark on itssecond weekend.
