Box Office: ‘Padmaavat’ enters Rs. 200 crore club

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic ‘Padmaavat’ (2018), starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, has entered the Rs. 200 crore club.

On its second Saturday, the 3rd February 2018, ‘Padmaavat’ (2018) earned approximately Rs 16.50 crore in India alone, totalling its business to Rs 185.50 crore in total. On Sunday, it was confirmed that the film had crossed Rs. 200 crore. This makes ‘Padmaavat’, Bhansali’s most successful film beating the business of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015).

When Bhansali was asked how he feels about the growing success of the film, he said, “There are creative angels who come and bless such films. There is some divine energy that says this is the way it should be. It is fascinating to go with the flow. If you are supposed to face the attacks or these kinds of protests that we have gone through, it’s a part of the film’s destiny.”

Further adding, “All I can say is that it just makes you stronger and wants you to make the movie better. When your whole being is at stake and you feel that you are going to perish, you give the thing on hand your best shot. Then things unfold in a way. So, from January 27, 2017, when we were attacked in Jaipur to January 25 this year when the film released, it has been one whole year of strife. I cannot describe all that my team and I went through.”
