Box Office: ‘Mom’ shows upward trend in India

Opening to rave reviews from the critics, industry and audiences alike , megastar Sridevi’s 300th film , ‘Mom’ , also starring Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui released nationwide on the 7th July and ever since has been showing an upward trend at the box office.

The emotional thriller, directed by Ravi Udyawar, was lauded for its outstanding performances, effective background score and intriguing narrative that kept audiences at the edge of their seat and opened to an encouraging response on Day 1.

While the film opened to approximately 2.90 cr on Friday , it went on to grow by significant margins over the weekend, growing by 75.17 % on Saturday raking in 5.08 cr and 6.42 cr on Sunday at the domestic box office, thanks to unanimously great reviews and positive word of mouth.

Says celebrated trade guru Komal Nahta, “Mom may be a slow starter but it’s a landmark film with great scripting,direction and acting”.

Says acclaimed trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh, “Mom had a Superb Saturday and excellent Sunday. The film is trending similar to Sridevi’s last “major release” Judaai (1997). Both English Vinglish and Mom are following the same trend. Business grows slowly but surely”.
