Box Office: ‘Mary Kom’ has decent opening; ‘Raja Natwarlal’ disappoints

'Mary Kom'

Priyanka Chopra۪s big release this year has finally hit the cinema and on the first day, Mary Kom۪ is seemingly doing well. Early figures are showing a decent occupancy level.

The film, which is a biopic about the boxer, was hoping to follow in the successful footsteps of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag۪ (2013). It has achieved tax exemptions in certain areas and this has helped it۪s reign at the box office on the opening day. The occupancy levels are at a healthy-ish 35% and no doubt these will only get better as word of mouth and the weekend business kicks off. Reviews of the film are also decent which should help towards a strong opening weekend, with the wide number of screens it has released in.

Last week۪s release, Raja Natwarlal۪ has been a huge disappointment achieving a dismal 20 crores net in the first week.
