This weekend’s release ‘Mardaani’ has had a slow opening at the box office in India.

BizAsia can reveal that the initial collections all over India averaged between 15-20%. While the reports have been average, the film’s success will now be down to word of mouth. It is important the film takes a jump either tonight or tomorrow for it to sustain at the box office.

‘Mardaani’ starring Rani Mukerji, is her first film after her marriage to Aditya Chopra.

This weekend’s other two releases ‘M.A.D’ and ‘Life Is Beautiful’ both opened to low business too due to the lack of screens showing the film.

‘Singham Returns’ continues to dominate the box office despite running for eight days. The three new films will face stiff competition from ‘Singham Returns’.
