This weekend’s thriller ‘Madaari’ has made a slow start, compared to Rajinikanth’s new release ‘Kabali’ in the Hindi markets, across India.

According to Box Office India, the Irrfan Khan film ‘Madaari’ opened up with around 8%, while ‘Kabali’ (dubbed) dominated with around 15%. The opening of the original film down South is expected to be a much bigger on the back of Rajinikanth’s star power in those markets. The report adds that the Tamil version of the film has had a strong opening in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune and Kolkata.

‘Kabali’ is expected to do better this weekend, while ‘Madaari’ will find it a struggle. Meanwhile, ‘Sultan’ is set to cross Rs. 300 crores in India in the coming days.
